Way of the Cross Observed

On Good Friday, hundreds of Christians in Meridian spent part of the day downtown, remembering the crucifixion of Jesus.

They were taking part in the annual "Way of the Cross, Way of Peace" walk. It's a chance for Christians of all denominations and races to get together and remember why Jesus died.

This is the ninth year for the march, and organizers say they're pleased with how many Christians of all backgrounds took part.

"I think the beauty of it is, like Jesus, there's no bickering," said Tom Zettler, a participant. "We don't care what church you go to, what race you are, what your social status is. You're welcome."

The walk has 13 different stations, each depicting a scene from the crucifixion story.
