Three arrests were made in Kemper County in what authorities call a major, multi-county drug operation.

49-year-old Debbie Majure, and her 52-year-old husband, Freddie, were taken into custody, along with 50-year-old Bill Pike. All face charges for the sale of crystal methamphetamine.

"They were not making it. They were having it shipped in from Arizona," said Sheriff James Moore of Kemper County. "It was quite big. As a matter of fact they had touched in Neshoba County, Leake County, Attala. They were supplying all those different counties."

According to a preliminary investigation, which involved the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and law enforcement in several local counties, Moore said the Kemper County operation was selling about $240,000 worth of crystal meth per month. It was apparently being transported in an 18-wheeler.

Moore said about $400,000 worth of items were seized in the raid. Many of those items came from a house in the Preston community where two of the suspects lived.

Although the arrests took place in late June, investigators say there was a good reason why they could not release any information before now.

"The reason it took so long to do this interview, with the people involved in Arizona, we didn't want to tip anyone off," said Moore. "We wanted to make sure we got all of the information before the arrests were made."

Moore said the Arizona operation has been dismantled, and this week bond on a federal charge in the case has been set at $10,000 for Debbie Majure. However, bond was denied for the other two suspects.

"There's probably going to be a trickle effect. There will probably be more arrests made," Moore said.
