Cameras an Issue for GJ

The Lauderdale County grand jury completed its final report for the March session Friday.

In addition to returning 405 indictments and 24 no-true bills, the grand jury also made recommendations for new camera equipment for the Lauderdale County Detention Facility.

"There are blind spots up and down the hallway when you're escorting prisoners," said jail administrator, Maj. Doris Callahan. "Video is in black and white where you can't really see what you do have."

Grand juries are allowed to inspect all county-owned buildings and to make recommendations for improvements.
