Hurricane Gustav made landfall around mid-morning along the southeast Louisiana coast just west of Grand Isle.

The outer rain bands associated with Hurricane Gustav will move across Mississippi, and the potential exists for periods of heavy rainfall and sporadic, brief tornadoes.

The heaviest rainfall has been south of Interstate 20, but as Hurricane Gustav weakens in the next 24 hours, more rainfall is possible across the area.
