A Lauderdale County board of supervisors' decision to move a set of green box dumpsters near a residential area in north Meridian has been rescinded.
After days of complaints about that site on Windmill Drive, District 1 Hank Florey instructed county workers to find another location.
The dumpsters are currently behind Northeast Elementary School, but officials had asked they be moved from there for safety reasons.
The site had already been cleared off, and was being prepared to place those dumpsters there.
"We had so much opposition to it. We thought that would be a good site away from the houses, but we had so much opposition, we decided to change it," said Florey. "I represent the people, and they don't want it, and I can appreciate that. I really can. "
Supervisors voted three to two at their last meeting to move those boxes to Windmill Drive.
