Baton Rouge Has Post-Gustav Needs
The U.S. Conference of Mayors shared a list of items needed by the city of Baton Rouge, La.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors says Baton Rouge, La., is in dire need of critical supplies. It says some people evacuated to Baton Rouge, which was then itself hit hard by Hurricane Gustav.

Portable Generators
Tarps (to repair holes in roofs)
Sheets (for shelters/National Guard housing)
Towels (for shelters/National Guard housing)
Blankets (for shelters/National Guard housing)
Baby Supplies (shelters and general distribution)
Hand Sanitizer (shelters and general distribution)
Radios (am) (shelters and general distribution)
Flashlights (shelters and general distribution)
Batteries (shelters and general distribution)
Portable stoves (general distribution)
Cots (shelters and National Guard)
Pillows (shelters and National Guard)
Washing Supplies (powder) (shelters and National Guard)
Toothpaste/Toothbrushes (shelters and general distribution)
Deodorant (shelters and general distribution)
Disposable medical wear (shelters, nursing homes, hospitals, home health)
Disposable medical supplies (gloves, pins, gowns, etc) (shelters, nursing homes, hospitals, home health)
Basic medical supplies (band-aides, aspirin, gauze, anti-biotic lotion,
eye solution, OTC sinus medication, etc (shelters and general
distribution)
Mosquito Repellent (first responders, shelters and general distribution)

Adult diapers (shelters, nursing homes, hospitals, home health)
Portable washing machine/dryer systems (capable of handling large

Baton Rouge said it has received from FEMA: MREs, bottled water, ice and some roof tarps, but it is now out of tarps.
