Retiree Health Fair

Retirees from throughout Lauderdale County turned out Tuesday for the 5th annual Retiree Informational Fair in Meridian. During the session, participants were given advise on financial and health issues.

City officials say seminars such as this are very important tools for meeting the needs of local retirees.

"Since our program has been in affect since 1995 we have relocated approximately 70 retiree families to Meridian. This is wonderful because statistics show that each retiree family is equivalent to 3.7 factory jobs," said Meridian Retiree Recruitment Coordinator Rebecca Gentry.

Meridian is one of 20 certified retiree communities in Mississippi.
