The dedication of the students and staff, along with community support, have contributed to the successful educational foundation for Enterprise School District.
It is listed number two in the state by the Web site schooldigger.com, which ranks schools and school districts to try to help parents make informed decisions about where the best educational opportunities are for their children.
The superintendent of Enterprise Schools says hard work and community support are essential.
"It's a big pride issue. You can come to events and see grandmothers, grandfathers, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters. We have classes that come and do homecoming week here, and reunions," said superintendent Arthur McMillan. "They want to come through the buildings and look and show everybody where they went to school. It's a big commitment financially on this community. They want a good school and they're willing to pay for it, and they want what's good. You try to put a good product out there, and I think they're proud of it."
"Expectations, mostly, is what keeps the children going," said Enterprise High School principal Mike Weathers. "From home, from the teachers, from the administration, from the coaches, from the band directors, from cheerleader coaches, we expect a lot out of our children and we don't accept anything less."
As far as individual schools go, Enterprise Elementary ranked number 3 in the state, while Enterprise Middle ranked number 44 and Enterprise High school ranked 4th.
The Web site listed another area school in its top ten, placing Newton County at number nine.
