Rally for Gambling

Nearly 100 residents of Alabama's Black Belt rallied in Montgomery
to support House Bill 280.

It would authorize major jackpots on electronic slot, blackjack, and other video gaming machines at Alabama's four dog racing tracks.

Advocates say money and jobs are leaving the state to gamble in Mississippi.

"We'll be back. And we're not going to come back just to stand up. We're going to come back and have a rally, hopefully on the steps of the Capitol," said Sen. Charles Steele. "We're going to come back and continue to come back on a regular basis. We're not going away is my point."

A similar bill was defeated in March in the Alabama House of Representatives.
