The Lauderdale County District Attorney's office on Wednesday dismissed the original indictment against David Bartholemew, accused in the rape of a child.

However, the DA intends to present the case again to the next Grand Jury, with new information and seeking a new indictment.

"We decided today because the young victim might have trouble pinpointing a specific instance on a specific day that we would take it back to a grand jury and ask them to consider indicting on things that happened over a course of time to the victim," said district attorney Bilbo Mitchell.

Bartholomew allegedly raped the victim when she was 11. She is now 14.
