Law officers from around the state who have written at least 100 tickets for DUI were honored at the state's annual awards banquet.
The top performer among the 49 recognized was Madison County sheriff's deputy, George Elliott, who made 643 DUI arrests.
"We haven't had as many fatalities," said Elliot. "People are more aware of me being out there, as far as drinking and driving. More conscious of it."
Among the officers honored in Jackson: Lauderdale county sheriff's deputies, David Rosenbaum and Mike McCarra; Meridian police officer, DonaldJenkins; and state trooper Brodrick Hutchins.
