About 350 students visited East Central Community College for its Career and Technical Showcase.

East Central Community College held a showcase for its career and technical programs for area high school students Tuesday.

Students from a handful of high schools were on hand to visit with instructors and students of the programs.

Some of the visiting high schools included Newton County, Newton City, Union, Louisville, Nanih Waiya, Noxapater, Neshoba Central, Philadelphia, and Choctaw Central.

"This is our first that we've done the showcase, and we've had several requests that the showcase be a staple here on campus," said counselor Christi Gregory. "I think the overall work of everyone here, all the instructors and our students that put in such hard work. And I think the teachers and the counselors that bring their students from the high schools is what makes it a success."

ECCC offers 20 programs. The students were able to gather information and view demonstrations from the various departments, some of which included culinary, cosmetology, welding, machine shop and nursing.
