Two new playgrounds for children and six fitness stations for adults have been added to Bonita Lakes Park in Meridian.

One playground is designed for children 2 to 5 years old and the other is for ages 5 to 12.

The exercise stations are scattered through walking and jogging trails.

Mayor John Robert Smith said these additions will help people stay healthy for generations to come.

"There couldn't be a more beautiful spot in this region of the southeast to place exercise and playground equipment that Bonita Lakes. And I think that's what the board of Blue Cross Blue Shield saw," said Smith. "They saw the beauty of the spot, dedicated to education, dedicated to fitness, and improving the health and the health standards for the people of Mississippi."

The playgrounds are easy to find, in the grove on the lower lake and behind the pavilion on the left side of the road on the lower lake.
