Pickering Visits School

Students at Oakland Heights Elementary received a visit from Cong. Chip Pickering Thursday.

The congressman read to students and delivered ‘Reading is Fundamental’ books.

Pickering also told classes about his duties as a congressman and the value he places on education.

"I have five sons and so I get a lot of experience at home. I know how important education is. I come from a family where my mother was a teacher, two of my three sisters, my grandparents were all in education," said Pickering. "And so we know how important it is. Not only to support our children but to support teachers in schools so that they have the resources they need to be successful."

Pickering also said Mississippi schools will take exams in the coming weeks to measure student achievement in education.
