As soon as you walk into the Meridian FedEx office, you are greeted by Barbara Crowell and Gina Berdami, both long-time cancer survivors with inspiring stories.

"The main thing is to stay positive and know that there are people looking out for you and praying for you," said Crowell.

"Pretty much everyone down here has known somebody or has had a family member to die from cancer," said Berdami.

Eight women work in this office, but some were out making deliveries during lunch. But the plan was to greet them with food and information about cancer prevention.

Lunch was provided by Riley Hospital, sponsor of Pink Thursdays. The hospital also shares information about why mammograms, self breast exams, and regular screenings are important for cancer prevention and early detection.

One customer walked in during the festivities. She said she's happy to be involved and to learn more about early cancer detection.

"It can benefit in so many ways, because so many times when you have appointments about this kind of stuff you can know what to expect, what to look for and pray things go well for you while you are in that process," said Geneva Williams, a FedEx customer.
