Charges Could Be Filed in Fatal Accident

Updated: Mon 10:59 AM, Jun 24, 2002

It will be next week at least before anyone is charged in an accident on Interstate 20-59 Thursday. The nine-car pile-up killed two people and injured several others.

Meridian Police Chief Benny Dubose says charges will be filed after an investigation into the accident. Dubose says the investigation could take several weeks.

Dubose says he's not sure if high speeds caused the accident. But he says he doesn't believe excessive speeding is a problem on the interstate in Meridian.

The accident occurred around 3:00 p.m. Thursday between the Highway 19 and Highway 45 exits.
