Homicide Investigation in Waynesboro

An investigation is underway into a pair of deaths in Waynesboro.
Police Chief Leonard Frost said 53-year-old Kynard Buford, Jr. of Shubuta, was dead following a car crash Oct. 24 on Court Street. Vidette Richey, 43, of Waynesboro, was also in the vehicle but died later of injuries apparently suffered in the crash.
According to a doctor, Buford had apparently been shot in the chest. At this time, police say they are conducting a murder investigation.
