RC, what was sickening to me is the boos, hisses and jeers given off by the McCain supporters as McCain was making his last speech (a very nice, respectable speech at that). Also, the jumping around and yelling that you speak of was not just done by African Americans, plenty people of all races jumped and yelled for joy when they found out Obama won. I guess you didn't see the footage of those who were celebrating around the white house. One young lady was holding a "Evict Bush Now" sign as she danced around . . .and guess what . . .she wasn't black.
First of all let me say that I voted for McCain. With that said, I am a firm believer that we should all back our new president, whether we voted for him or not. I am anxious to see how Obama will handle the tough issues once he is in office. After watching the news just now, I am sickened how the group of African-Americans were acting for the camera. I do not feel that Senator Obama is that type of person. I feel that he would be ashamed of the way they were acting, jumping around and yelling. There is a way to celebrate without looking as if you are in a club. I pray that having a black president will enlighten those who act less than decent to realize all can be productive members of society.
It's scary to think that Obama may raise taxes for any business making $250,000 a year. I understand that a lot of you think that it is not a big deal if your business has such a profit to reflect that. Also, people need to remember a lot of small business is what people are employed by. People are not taking into consideration of what it takes to make payroll, pay the taxes that already exist, insurance for the business, advertising, vehicles, utilities, rent for the building, CPA'S, just to name a few. Plus, we are expected to provide employee benefits. How can you wonder why people didn't support Barack Obama? I have a small business, but the raise in these "Obama proposed taxes" could force me out of business and guess what, I will have to cut 45 jobs. There are people that depend on me to support their families. Where is my support?
I disagree with the person who blames racism on blacks. The cause of racism is to be placed on the shoulders of the ignorant. Ignorance knows no race or gender. It is ignorance that makes people blame and point fingers instead of seeing things for what they are, trying to grasp an understanding of them, and making an attempt to positively effect them.
After 19 years, i can truly say that i see CHANGE. Stop being so simple minded people and start seeing each other as God does.
There are no 'racial remarks' here. People are expressing their opinions. Some people wanted Obama to win and others didn't. Those people are allowed to speak out. You can't shut people up because you don't like what they say.
YES!I SAID IT,IT'S TIME FOR A CHANGE THIS IS 2008 NOT 19O8 GET OVER IT WE'RE ALL HUMAN SO CUT OUT THE RACIAL REMARKS. TO ALL BLACK & WHITES THAT VOTED FOR OBAMA THANK U AND MAY GOD BLESS U ALL AND FOR THOSE THAT DID'T KEEP LIVING IN THE PAST AND LET LIFE PASS U BY WE'RE ALL HUMAN GOD LOVE ALL BLACK & WHITE . THAT WHY THIS WORLD CAN'T MOVE AHEAD BECAUSE U PEOPLE WANT COME TOGETHER AND BE AS 1.
One last thing . . . the change that is being spoken about really HAS come. How so? Two hunderd and thirty-two years and four months later, a nation born under the ideal that all men are created equal has elected its first black president. That is monumental. We have CHANGED the world's view of America. We will now be seen as the land of unity and opportunity . . .and we should not make this image merely a facade . . . we should all stand behind OUR president so that other positive changes can also take place.
Some of these comments are laughable. Firstly, how does one know what black people expect? I'm black, yet I can almost guarantee that what I expect may be very different from what another person of my same race expects. Your expecations are usually based on your experiences, and whether some believe it or not . . .all black people ARE NOT the same and therefore DO NOT have the same experiences. It is also laughable to call other blacks involved in government "TRUE" African Americans. Just because Obama had white relatives (a lot of us do) and was raised by them . . . doesn't mean he isn't a true African American. He is seen as black (and maybe muslim to the more confused) . . . he has lived his life as a black man, he married a black woman, and has two black children. He is aware of the Black experience in America, even if he has not experienced all of it himself (I haven't either). If anything he can approach things from both perspectives because of the life he has led.
I understand black people being especially proud of Obama's election. He may be a very successful president. Let's all pray for him as he leads our country. But it is just naive to think that a President Obama is going to have an easy road or that we as citizens will have an easy road because he was elected. President Obama will face the same hard challenges that every other president has faced, perhaps even tougher challenges because of the way the world is. George Bush didn't make all the right decisions, but he is not Satan, nor is Sen. Obama a savior. He's a person who will have the hardest job in the world. He will have to make very difficult decisions quickly, without time for a lot of reflection. As an imperfect child of God, as we all are, he will sometimes mess up. "Change has really come?" Other than the office passing to a different person with different color skin, what has changed for you? Are you more successful? Do the world's problems go away? No, they don't.
Racisim is alive and well, only because blacks or should it be african american keep it going. They have nothing better to do.
Finally, the change we've all waited for. Now the US can finally get back on track after 8 years of pure turmoil.
This country is in real trouble now!!
change has really came. lets all get busiy and make the change work for our children and their childrens thank you wtok for all of your dedication to brining to us your viewers the best and the most local and national events that effects our lives daily
I fear the people have been duped. I voted for the democratic party but, Obama will not what the black people expect. Half white raised by whites. He cannot connect with blacks. He has said blacks need to take advantage of opportunities given to them, meaning he will not be giving "free rides". His VP selection is not a strong black supporter. Blacks will turn on him for not doing enough and whites will turn on him for doing too much. This Bi-racial person is destin to fail. I believe him to be a good man but, cannot be what the people who elected him think they are getting. Racisim is alive and well with over 90% ov black vote going to this believed african american. He's been given a bill that he cannot pay back. With so many true african americans in government leadership positions, the opportunity for advancement was already in place. We did not need this half black, groomed by whites, person as a role model for african americans.
