High Court Weighs Freedom Issue

The U.S. Supreme Court is set to consider a case of when public money may be spent on religious education.

Fifteen states, including Louisiana, have constitutional bans on state spending for theology classes. The justices are expected to decide if a person's freedom to practice religion outweighs those bans.

Washington State who wanted to use a state grant program to help pay his tuition at a college affiliated with a religious organization.

The state at first approved money for the student, but then refused to let it go through because he's majoring in theology. A lower court had ruled Washington State was wrong to withhold the money.
