I am always sad that Meridian continues to demolish its historic buildings (I grew up in Meridian), every time I return, more has been replaced by the same shiny stuff I see in every town I visit. Meridian's downtown is of real interest, if marketed and developed in a sensitive way. A loss of an entire historic block (includes the prairie style bank across from the Kress building, I believe) to build a synthetic stucco hotel that will be out of date in 10 years is not a good thing in my mind. Meridian, please save the Three Foot building. It is a landmark, and worthy of development - it will pay off in the long term.
