A Choctaw County jury has convicted 55-year-old Sherry Rodgers of attempted murder for dousing a sheriff's deputy with gasoline and setting him on fire. He faces life in prison at sentencing Dec. 12.

Deputy Clifton Spears, now the Lisman police chief, had severe burns in the
May 1, 2006, attack. He spent 25 days in a hospital, 18 of those days in intensive care.

Rodgers also was convicted Thursday of two counts of reckless endangerment for threatening the life of his cousin and 99-year-old grandmother, who were in the Lisman home where the fire was set.

Rodgers had pleaded not guilty by reason of mental disease or defect.
