A Meridian law firm has won a $4 million verdict for its client against a major retailer.

A federal court ruled Thursday in favor of Lisa Learmont of Philadelphia, Miss.

In August 2005, Learmont was involved in a crash with a Sears truck in Neshoba County.

Attorney Joe Clay Hamilton said the court found the driver of that truck to be negligent.

It is my hope that the people of Meridian will be able to enjoy the Three Foot Building as I did as a child. If this great build was made to shine again with all of her GLORY perhaps Meridian will become a destination city instead of a stop over city. Much like Shavana GA, or Charleston SC, Meridian will become one of the great cities of the south, with the revolution of the Three Foot Building.I am so proud to call Meridian Ms my home, a great city of the South.

I attended the meeting this evening at Union Station and appreciate the opportunity to be present and appreciate all parties presenting their proposals. It is my hope that both projects could be accomplished and supported. I appreciate the significant investment that Mr. Lala has made in our community and respect his ability to make things happen with private funds. On the other hand, I feel that the Threefoot Building is a rich part of Meridian's heritage. It is the most prominant landmark in our great city. Unfortunatly, nearly my entire life, it has been a vacant building deteriorating. There are several generations of people that have never stepped foot in the building and that is a shame. The building should take top priority over any other project in downtown Meridian. We owe this project to our children and grandchildren. We cannot miss an opportunity to restore this building and make it the true cornerstone of downtown Meridian. Let's make both projects work for a better Mdn
