Jackson's troubled mayor was released from a hospital Sunday after reportedly experiencing what a city councilman described as heart-related issues.
Goldia Revies, a spokeswoman for Mayor Frank Melton, said she did not know if the mayor will be back at work on Monday. She said Melton was recovering well.
She did not disclose the nature of Melton's medical problem.
Councilman Frank Bluntson, who drove the mayor to St. Dominic Hospital on Tuesday, said he understood Melton was having problems with his defibrillator. However, Revies denied the surgery was related to the mayor's previous heart condition.
Melton and a former bodyguard face three federal felony charges stemming from the damaging of a duplex in Jackson that the mayor considered a crack house. Their trial is scheduled for January.
