While some industries in this region of Mississippi are closing their doors, one of Jasper County's largest companies is not only celebrating its 40th year in business, but it's expanding as well.
Hol-Mac Corporation is building on the foundation laid by CEO Charles Holder. It will add over 50 new jobs to the company's Bay Springs work force, which already employs over 350 people from Jasper County and the surrounding area, when the new facility comes on line.
"We're very diversified, we do a lot of different things," said founder Charles Holder. "That's the reason that when the economy's down.
We've usually got something we can build."
At the anniversary/groundbreaking ceremony Friday morning, several employees shared memories of their years with Hol-Mac and Holder. While they say they've been through ups and downs, the company has made a good life for them.
"We've come a long way, and it's because of the management and the decisions they're made over the years," said Terrell Evans, who has been with Hol-Mac for 33 years.
"To be able to get up in front of a group and speak about those accomplishments, and knowing what we've accomplished, what we did, it's just a fantastic feeling," said 23-year employee, Hal Blakeney.
Hol-Mac has been a vital part of Jasper County's economy for years, and according to Holder, that's the way it's going to stay.
"The future's unlimited. It's only limited by the people," Holder said.
