Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood filed a fraud and antitrust lawsuit against Entergy Corp. and its subsidiaries Tuesday, claiming the companies manipulated the purchase and sale of electricity to maximize profits.

Hood has claimed for weeks that Entergy Mississippi, one of the subsidiaries, buys electricity from sister companies at a higher rate than it could on the open market, then passes inflated costs along to consumers.

Entergy has denied the allegations, and sought to block Hood from obtaining thousands of company records related to fuel purchases.
