Site dedication for the $50 million Mississippi Arts and Entertainment Center is scheduled for Wednesday at Bonita Lakes in Meridian.
Members of the center's development committee and about 300 other guests have been invited to the event that includes an unveiling of a sign announcing the project.
Paul Ott, chairman of the development committee, said the ceremony is proof that the center will soon become a reality.
The Mississippi Legislature tabbed the site for the statewide arts center two years ago, but the center has yet to receive state funding.
Ott said the development committee is seeking funds for the arts center. Groundbreaking for the first phase of the project is planned for fall 2004 if fund-raising efforts are successful.
