BEIJING (AP) -- China's president is calling for faster reconstruction in the province where many survivors of May's killer earthquake are facing a cold winter.

Xinhua (shin-wah) News Agency says Hu Jintao spent three days in the devastated Sichuan province. He spent time visiting with victims, checking up on relief projects, and inspecting the rebuilding being done in the area where the 7.9 magnitude quake was centered. The quake left some 90,000 dead or missing.

Thousands are still living in tents and other temporary housing.

The May quake destroyed tens of thousands of buildings, schools and homes, and left millions without proper shelter. Another 5.0 quake was felt in the region Monday.
