Aguilar Appeal Denied

The Mississippi Supreme Court has refused to hear an appeal from a Meridian man sentenced to 20 years in prison for the 1999 killing of another man during an argument.

George D. "Jay'' Aguilar was convicted of manslaughter in 2000 in Lauderdale County Circuit Court in the stabbing death of Jeffrey "Bo'' Hudson.

The state Court of Appeals had earlier upheld the conviction. The Supreme Court turned down Aguilar's request Thursday to hear
the case.

Aguilar was arrested in November 1999 after Hudson was stabbed during a domestic dispute between the victim and his ex-wife, Tamara Hudson.

According to the court record, Aguilar confessed to the stabbing, but claimed he acted in self-defense.
