Former Gov. Kirk Fordice is going through his second divorce in four years. Divorce records obtained by WLBT-TV of Jackson say the couple is splitting because of irreconcilable differences.
Fordice and his second wife, the former Ann G. Creson, had been married since Feb. 26, 2000. The divorce papers were filed Monday in Madison County Chancery Court.
Fordice served two terms as governor of Mississippi from 1992 to 2000. He was the state's first Republican governor since Reconstruction. Fordice and his first wife, Pat, had a well-publicized split that was finalized after he officially left office.
Fordice had been photographed returning from France with Ann while he was still married to Pat.
The former Vicksburg contractor married Ann, his childhood sweetheart, after his 44-year marriage to Pat Fordice ended. He and Ann have been living in Madison. At one time they also had homes in Memphis and Gulf Shores, Ala.
