Dear Anonymous, Going along with what Lee Rich wrote (Get out from behind your computer, get involved yourself) I invite you to get to know the members of the Patriot Guard, and learn about the other groups in Mississippi that far out number the words I can type in this comment field. Start with meeting some of our great members in your area such as Mrs. Wilma Allen and her husband Gary, Lee Rich and Dana, Rachel and Jerome Lee. They along with people like my ride captain Dragonslayer, have grown me and taught me more then you could ever imagine. I wish everyone could learn and feel what I feel for these people and all the others across the state that I have had the honor of become a small part of their lives. I can never express the gratitude and respect I have for these people and the soldiers.I believe they are owed more then we can ever give them or the families. Visit www.patriotguard.org and consider what difference you would make. Or consider the group Soldiers Angels
I have thought about what to write and I first wanted to come off angry that someone would even write a negative comment. I thought well maybe they meant to say " That's great and worthy of Dustin, now let's do something for all the other's".. I also thought well maybe this person is not a Veteran and does not understand anything that goes on within that community... All I have to say is my Sister and Brother n Law do not sit around and say hey what can we get done in Dustin's name... It is friends, unknowns and family members that continue that pursuit of not forgetting what he gave his life for. It should be like that for every Soldier, not only the ones that gave their life. Don't be negative, be proactive. There are so many Charities that support Soldiers and Soldiers Families, including the children left behind. Get out from behind your computer, get involved yourself. Dustin, Shane you are always with us in our small town. Thanks Dragon..you said a mouthful.
You misunderstood me, dragonslayer. I was agreeing with you and taking issue with some OTHER comments that seemed resentful of the highway being named for CPL Lee. I applaud you and your organization.
IT'S SO GOOD TO BE AN AMERICAN....GOD BLESS ALL....
BJ Sir NO Resentment here and Wilma is correct I quess I am thankful that there are people who care enough about our Soldiers Vets and thier Families to accually be Movers and Shakers and make dedications and other honorable events accually happen for these Families instead of some who will stand behind the crowd and make such blanket comments with out the knowledge of how many State and National organizations who work with these families on a daily bases. I will assume they did not hear about the SnowBall Express that Disney put together for all Gold Star Families this past Christmas Disney did this out of Respect an Honor to thier Fallen Hero Ratchel and Jerome I will be there and I will bring my friends
There are different things being done in memory of ALL THE FALLEN SOLDIERS of Ms. Different Armories have been named after soldiers. The Morton Armory is named after my son.In Clarke County a Monument at the Court House has all the names of the KIA soldiers from Clarke County. In Stonewall,Ms. there is a Monument in progress for the KIA Soldiers buried or Memorialized in Stonewall Cem.Jan 31st the MOPH will unveil a Portrait Memorial for all the Soldiers from MS. from the Iraq/Afganistan War.It will be placed in the Court House in Cleveland, Ms. Adopt a HWY & Hwy named in Honor or Memory of a person anyone can apply for. These soldiers will never be forgotten. So when a Hwy, Armory etc. is being named for a soldier/soldiers who gave his or her life for our freedom your thoughts should be that soldier deserves that. Dustin Lee deserves to have that HWY named after him. I watched Dustin grow from a skinny little boy into a PROUD Marine.Mother of SGT Robert Shane Pugh KIA 3/2/2005
Dragonslayer, I'm with you. What's up with this resentment? People, why not praise God that each and every one of these patriots are remembered in whatever way they can be? And they are remembered and loved, even by many of us who never even knew them. That is what counts.
Very nice
Dear Anonymous the MS National Guard is working on your question of other soldiers KIA from MS They have dedicated several Readiness Centers across this state to these soldiers along with MDOT Dedicating other HWY's I am a Ride Captain with the Ms Patriot Guard Riders and 22 yrs Retired Army The PGR works with all MS Gold Star Families I have been there with the Lee Family. I was there when Dustin came home, when Lex Retired from USMC Albany GA., For Lex's Purple Heart cerimony, Eglin AFB FL. and many events where this family have been present. During this time I have found that these actions of dedication to our Fallen Heros is a healing process for those Gold Star Families that we hold dear to our Hearts The Ms PGR will be Honoring all 68 MS KIA'S and thier Gold Star Families May 16 thru 18 at the Trail of Honor at the Jackson Harley Shop During the Run for the Wall where they will leave and continue thier trip and stop in Meridian What do YOU do for our Goldstar Familes???
I had a really good friend that was killed in Irag and he was also from Stonewall.... He gave his life for his country just like Mr. Lee and in my opinion is just as worthy of having a road or a memorial in his name too. As well as the many other soldiers who gave their lives for our freedom..... THEY ALL SHOULD BE HONORED......
I think this is a very respectful gesture. I'm so tired of seeing MLK streets in every single town across America.
what about the other soilders from miss.that have been killed?
