A car-van collision on KOA Campground Road and Mt. Gilead Road in Lauderdale County Monday claimed the life of Debra Bell, 44. Nine others were hospitalized.

The investigation also revealed the identities of three men who fled one of the vehicles after the 3:39 p.m. wreck.

"As of today we know who the driver and the three occupants are," said Sheriff Billy Sollie. "We had one transported from the scene. We had another to report to a local hospital several hours later claiming to have been involved in a motor vehicle accident but couldn't remember anything about it."

The other two occupants turned themselves in to authorities Tuesday. Sollie said the case is still under investigation and no charges have yet been filed.

"We have collected physical evidence at the scene as well as some toxicology is going to be sent off for analysis," Sollie said. "And when that information is brought back to us, we will be presenting charges to the D.A.'s office."

Charges of DUI manslaughter and accessory after the fact are possible.
