There are no more flashing yellow lights on Hwy. 19 near the southeast school crossing.
With the help of the Department of Transportation, a new actuating traffic light has been installed.
Over the years, many people have voiced concerns about the safety of the intersection.
"For the past several decades, we have had to assist traffic," said Sheriff Billy Sollie. "We are very glad the light has been installed. We made a phone call and expressed a need for the light. And the lights separate the high school from the middle school."
The lights have sensory activators that will prompt them to change with the flow of traffic.
