A Kemper County grand jury has recommended closing a controversial death investigation.
The body of Nick Naylor was found hanging from a tree near Porterville on Jan. 9, 2003. The case was ruled a suicide, but Naylor's family disputes that finding.
The grand jury on Wednesday morning visited the site where Naylor's body was found.
"Law enforcement had already decided that they had done a complete investigation," said district attorney Bilbo Mitchell. "What I did was present the evidence to eighteen citizens to review. The grand jury confirmed what we already thought."
Five members of the Naylor family, along with a state investigator and a crime lab representative offered testimony on this case to the grand jury this week.
