The Specialty Hospital Thursday hosted its Third Annual Senior Safety and Community Health Fair. It features screenings for the public, all free of charge.
Officials say it's important for the elderly and others to keep a check on their blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar levels, but that's not all the health fair covers.
"We have a safety program that is related to the balance of the patient and whether they can go up and down steps," said Elizabeth Mitchell, vice-president of the Specialty Hospital. "And make sure that they are steady on their feet. And of course, we tell them things like, you know, don't leave loose rugs on the floor and those types of things, because those are real dangers for the senior population."
Several hundred people took advantage of the chance to track key health indicators, offered by the specialty hospital.
