Musgrove Campaigns

Gov. Ronnie Musgrove toured the state Tuesday, officially kicking off his re-election campaign. He started the day in his hometown of Batesville, but rallied late in the day at Oakland Heights Elementary School in Meridian.

Musgrove pledged to continue to "Put Mississippi First.” He also doled out criticism of republican challenger Haley Barbour for his ties to Washington.

The governor said Mississippi has accomplished great feats in education and economic development.

Musgrove faces opponents in the Democrat primary Aug. 5, including Sen. Barbara Blackmon, former Mississippi Supreme Court justice Jim Roberts, and former Mississippi Valley State dean, Troy Brown, Sr.
