Musgrove: "Get Rid of Death Tax"

By  |

Gov. Ronnie Musgrove said Monday that the state Legislature reduced the "death tax'' in 1998 and he wants to finish the job if he is elected to a second term.

Musgrove said eliminating the inheritance tax would take about $30 million a year out of the state budget, but would have the benefit of allowing small businesses and farms to keep more money and create more jobs.

The governor spoke at a luncheon sponsored by the Capitol press corps and Mississippi State University's John C. Stennis Institute of Government.
