Although the weather hasn't turned cold just yet, one Meridian resident is now more prepared for it.
Larvonia Kelly, with help from multi-county community service agency, now has a safer and more energy-efficient home.
"Today is weatherization day. Weatherization is a project where we show them how we are saving energy," said Freddie McCoy, weatherization coordinator for MCCSA. "We help our clients to save on their bills. What we did to this home today is blow insulation in the walls of the home and the attic of the home."
MCCSA also installed an energy-efficient heater, smoke detector, and an alarm system.
The agency uses federal grants to help over 100 low-income families each year.
