Miller Named Fire Chief

Tim Miller, formerly a Battalion Chief, was named Meridian fire chief Monday.

Miller steps into the job vacated by the resignation of Bunky Partridge. Partridge is taking over Meridian's Civil Defense program.

"Chief Miller, I want to turn over command of the Meridian Fire Department to you," said Partridge in a ceremony at city hall. "I wish you all the luck. I'll still be around to help you when possible."

"I look forward to working for the citizens of Meridian, to continue what Chief Partridge has started for us, of having a great fire department, to make it the best in the state and I truly feel it is the best in the state," said Chief Miller.

Miller is the son of Glen Miller, who retired in 1987 as Meridian's assistant police chief.
