Charges against a Lauderdale County man charged with aggravated assault against his wife could be upgraded.
James Redmond, 36, was charged Sunday by the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department.
His wife, Tonya Redmond, 28, died Monday at the burn center in Greenville.
Maj. Ward Calhoun said that discussions are underway with the district attorney on the possibility of upgrading the charge.
Tonya Redmond suffered burns on June 29, but the injury was not reported as a possible crime until mid-July.
Redmond's bond on the assault charge was set at $50,000.
