A group of volunteers in York, Ala., is doing what it can to make sure others have plenty to eat for Easter dinner.

Operation Home Care started just after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Cynthia Brooks started the program, which runs strictly from the efforts of volunteers. She is a volunteer herself and says she frequently spends her own money and does without to help those in her community.

"We are a volunteer organization. We don't get paid. We haven't been paid since 2005. That's how dedicated we are," said Brooks. "We're not saying we don't want to get paid, but we're actually here for the people and to represent Christ in the community of York."

Brooks started the program to help people who can't help themselves. Four years later, Operation Home Care is still helping the people of York, and now they are handing out food for Easter.

"It's something real good to have right here at home in York, Alabama. It's real good," said client Andrew Clark.

"I say God bless y'all for helping me, helping me get this stuff. I appreciate that. I tried to get here as quick as I could," said client Annie Landrum.

One volunteer said that Operation Home Care is not about anyone in particular. It's just about spreading love and help for the community.

"I'm 77. If I have helped someone along the way, my living won't be in vain," said Jo Ann Moody. "That's what Operation Home Care means to me. That is my reason for being here, is to spread the love of Jesus Christ."

More than 200 bags of food will be donated for Easter.
