Recall May Affect Law Agencies

Ford has recalled nearly 30,000 Crown Victorias, popular for use as law enforcement patrol cars and taxis, because of a wheel defect.

The wheels were made between August 2001 and September 2002.

Meridian police chief Benny Dubose and Lauderdale County sheriff Billy Sollie said their departments have not yet received a notice about any vehicles that might be affected.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration also said Ford is recalling 1.5 million Explorers and Mountaineers, made between 1998 and 2001.
