A dispute over the District 56 House race took another twist Thursday when Hinds County Republicans said there won't be a new vote in part of a Clinton precinct because the precinct isn't even in the district.
The race remains unresolved and one of the candidates said he wants a new vote in a different precinct.
Philip Gunn of Clinton is challenging first-term Representative Jep Barbour of Yazoo City.
He said people on eight Clinton streets who were supposed to vote in the race were instead given ballots for another House district.
Gunn said he wants those people, who vote at Wildwood Baptist Church, to vote again and that it's not fair that they were denied the right to vote for their representative.
Barbour could not immediately be reached Thursday.
District 56 takes in parts of Hinds, Madison, Warren and Yazoo counties.
Unofficial results show Barbour has a 17-vote lead over Gunn. That excludes ballots cast at Holy Savior Catholic Church.
