Ex-Neshoba Sheriff's Candidate Fined for Speeding, Ignoring Blue Light

Charges of driving with an expired inspection sticker and reckless driving were dropped against 55-year-old Jimmy McDaniel.

McDaniel had claimed the tickets issued on July 13th by a state trooper were politically motivated because he was running for sheriff. McDaniel was defeated in the Democratic primary.

McDaniel had said he had been unaware he was being pursued because he never saw the trooper's blue lights.

McDaniel did not dispute the speeding ticket, but argued in court that he was innocent of the other charges.

Following testimony Monday in the non-jury trial, McDaniel was fined $93 for failure to yield to blue lights. He was also fined $83 for speeding.
