Gun Issue Raised at Meeting

At the most recent Marion board of alderman meeting, alderman Elvis Hudson said many of the town's residents are concerned about an employee carrying a gun on the job.

Hudson referred to water manager and building inspector Doyle McKee.

"They're not in favor of him carrying a gun on the town of Marion's time," said Hudson. "And I think we need to do something as a board to cover ourselves because he's not bonded, he's not insured. We need to do something about this."

McKee said he carried the gun because he had been threatened by another Marion resident.

A proposed ordinance that would make it illegal was tabled for future consideration.
