Cong. Chip Pickering announced late Wednesday a commitment from Admiral John Boyington not to move the T-2 Buckeye aircraft from Naval Air Station Meridian to Kingsville, Texas.
It was an option that had been under consideration.
Boyington said the Navy will continue to modernize the Meridian base with additional T-45s, but the T-2s will remain until they do.
The announcement secures the Sikorsky jobs at NAS Meridian. Sikorsky services the trainer jets.
