Hazardous Materials Disposal

Saturday, Sept. 6, is Amnesty Day in Meridian. Residents may dispose of items not normally accepted for disposal by waste management.

"Aerosol cans, paint thinners, drain opening stuff, anything like Draino, antifreeze, used oil, tires, yard and garden pesticides, paints, corrosives or solvents, old car batteries and oil filters," said Odell Hopkins, listing the type of household materials that are considered hazardous.

If you have these types of items, take them to the Public Works complex, 311 27th Avenue, near Kate Griffin Junior High School, any time after 8:00 a.m. Saturday.
