Employees of a Clarke County drug store are shaken after a man robbed the business at gunpoint, in broad daylight just after lunch time, Tuesday.
"We may average three armed robberies a year in the county as a whole, so it's not a real common occurrence," said Sheriff Todd Kemp. "A very serious incident happened here in town. We're asking the general public's help to generate some curiosity and find out the identity of this individual."
It was an otherwise normal day at Quitman Drugs. The owner was finishing up his lunch when a man walked into the store, pulled a gun and ordered everyone on the floor.
The man then ordered the store owner to tie the hands of his employees with zip ties. Then, the owner was forced at gunpoint to load a variety of drugs and an unknown amount of money into a duffel bag.
The owner says he was then ordered to his knees and had his hands tied behind his back.
The robber then grabbed keys and drove away in an employee's car. He ditched the car a few blocks away and fled in another car that was red.
Kemp is working with the Quitman Police Department to find the suspect.
"The individual is described as probably 5'8" to 5'9" and around 200 pounds, stocky build," said the sheriff. "He had a tattoo of barbed wire or something around his right wrist. There was also a tattoo of something along the stomach area."
He also had band-aids beneath his eyes, possibly to cover tattoos. They also say he had olive-toned skin.
Sheriff Kemp says they have checked on several leads, but so far nothing has panned out.
If you have any information on this case, you are asked to call the Clarke County Sheriff's Department at 601-776-5252 or Quitman Police at 601-776-6461.

I thought the same thing olive color what's olive color is that ligh skinned black man or a white guy. Wait what I'm thinking if it was a black man that would've been the first words out of his mouth.
Funny how they didn't mention the color at the first identifying factor....
What is happening to our safe quiet county? We will be sending prayers to Al and all his employees and are thankful everyone is ok. Prayers also go out to the sheriff's department in their investigation.
