Hood: "I'm Right for the Job"

The democratic nominee for attorney general, Jim Hood, campaigned in Meridian Wednesday.

Hood discussed his ten point plan for fighting crime that includes tougher penalties for violent crimes, protecting victims' rights, making schools safer, reducing drug abuse and the reduction of fraud in the state.

Hood is currently the district attorney for seven northeast Mississippi counties. He said his experience makes him the man for the job.

"That experience makes the difference in this race for attorney general," said Hood. "When you're dealing with 115 lawyers, it's kind of like herding cats. You have to know what the rules of the law are, and I know that."

Hood will face republican nominee Scott Newton in the November general election.
