NAACP Urges Voter Participation

The Meridian-Lauderdale County branch of the NAACP, announced its voter registration drive, set for Sunday.

The ''Get Out the Vote'' campaign is asking all churches in the area to canvas their memberships.

"We want you to get out and vote," said Eloise Jenkins, Political Action chairperson. And if you want to make a difference, you have to get out there and vote. We're asking everyone to register and get out there and vote."

Voter registration forms will be provided. They may be picked up at the Lauderdale County Courthouse or at Uni-Fam, 610 Martin Luther King Drive in Meridian.

The general election is Tuesday, Nov. 4. To participate in that election, voters must be registered at least 30 days prior to that date.
