Federal officials say they have found evidence of racial discrimination against Mississippi's black highway patrol troopers.
The U.S. Equal Opportunity Commission said the state Department of Public Safety "discriminated against blacks as a class because of their race with respect to assignment, demotions, discharges, discipline, harassment, hiring, intimidation and hostile work environment."
The EEOC has asked the state to begin a process to eliminate the discriminatory practices.
Mississippi Public Safety Commissioner Steve Simpson said in an e-mailed statement that the EEOC's report was vague and lacked specifics. He said the agency will review what action, if any, needs to be taken.

This comment is for Southern girl, my husband has been a State Trooper for 10 years and he has never had a complaint on him as of yet so I beg your pardon about black officers "who act in those ways", black people are as professional as white officers if not more.
This comment is for Southern girl, you were way out of line with that comment you made about black officers who act without any reprecussions, White officers do it all the time and always have, face it Mississippi is a very racial state, it has always been if people don't wake up and change their ways it will always be. If Mississippi was not a racial stated President Obama would have had more supporters here than he did.
Could it possibly be because they may have actually done those things??? Noone ever considers that white or black there are certain ways to act in the workplace.. Why is it that people are sooo quick to say it's because they were black.. when infact that has absolutely nothing to do with it at all.. Everytime a person says that it increases the racism. Just because you are black doesn't give you the right to act however you would like and scream racism when you are caught! It wont be an issue if people stop making it one! I think this is vERY sad.. and represents our state horribly! I have actually witnessed black officers who do act in those ways.. and have absolutely no reprecussions!
